Chicago Bears Lead at Halftime

Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears are leading the Cincinnati Bengals 10-3 at halftime of their first home preseason game of the 2024 season.

Slow Start for the Bears

The Bears had a tough start. They went three and out on their first three drives, which means they had to give up the ball without making any progress. Their running and passing game weren’t working well. But in the second quarter, they started to get better. Williams showed off his talent for making plays under pressure.

Williams, the top pick in the draft, threw a long pass to rookie Rome Odunze, even though he was spinning out of the way. He almost scored a touchdown with another pass to Odunze, but Odunze’s foot was out of bounds. Williams then ran around the edge for a touchdown after avoiding the Bengals' defense.

Bengals' Mixed Results

The Bengals' defense, especially the backups, played well early on, but their offense had a hard time against the Bears' first-team defense. Kyler Gordon stood out with his great play. The Bears' rookies on the second-team defense also did a good job. The Bengals did have some exciting moments from players like Jermaine Burton, Trayveon Williams, and Kris Jenkins, but there wasn’t much else happening on offense.
